Assalamualaikum wr wbt.
Fren lama nggak ketemu. Kangen, heu. Ceritanya dua bulan kebelakang saya sibuk dengan ujian sidang skripsi. Mengejar target wisuda bulan April 2009. Yup, kalo sidangnya setelah bulan Februari, convo will be postponed until October, 2009. Hii, siapa yang mau?!
Begitulah. 27 Februari lalu, tepatnya hari Jum'at, saya menghadapi final exam ini, mempertahankan skripsi (thesis) yang berjudul THE USE OF ENGLISH BY MALAYSIAN BLOGGERS. Heu.. yang Malaysian bloggers ke-GR-an deh kayaknya :D
Penguji saya adalah Dr. Wachyu Sundayana, MA., Dr. Didi Sukyadi S. Pd., MA., dan Drs. Ahsin Muhammad, M. Ag. Selama sidang saya merasa tidak menemukan kesulitan atau mendapat pertanyaan sulit baik oleh penguji 1, 2 atau 3. Kecuali penguji 1 yang sedikit mempertanyakan teori Hourian yang menyatakan bahwa para blogger sering menngunakan bahasa informal "no matter what the topic". Kata beliau, kalau menurut previous theory, topiklah yang justru menentukan style bahasa: formal atau informal.
Nah, ditanya begini saya jadi rada bengong. Pengetahuan saya nggak sampai situ lah. "Meneketehe, Pak! Bapak kali yang nggak update teori?". Oh tentu saya bilang ini di dalam hati saja.
Di mulut saya beragumen bahwa, the tendency to use informal language without considering the topic occurs in cyber world especially in Weblog. It is because of the fact that there is "no language control" in cyber world. Internet users feel free to use any language. Whereas in "real world" people still considering language style. It is rarely found people write in informal style in newspapers, for example, when the topic is about politic, education, etc..
Saya cuma bisa jawab gitu. Tapi yang pasti ujian sidang berjalan lancar. Lulus dah dengan predikat "kecemplung ke laut" (bukan cumlaude) hehe.
Tentu saja lulusnya saya ini tidak lepas dari mereka yang telah sungguh2 membantu saya. Kusebut mereka satu persatu:
1. My first supervisor, Mrs. Sri Setyarini, MA., dan second supervisor, Mr. Ruswan Dallyono, S. Sos., M. Pd. Pak Ruswan adalah dosen yang paling penyabar, terbuka, dan siap ditemui kapan saja. Nggak pernah beliu mengeluh sibuk atau tidak ada waktu buat membimbing. Salut deh pokoknya!
2. Kak Najwa dan Kak Iena yang telah rela menjadi respondentku. Makasih buat waktu, kepercayaan, dan kerjasamanya. Tanpa blog mereka, tentu saja tak akan ada thesis THE USE OF INFORMAL ENGLISH BY MALAYSIAN BLOGGERS itu. Kiranya apa yang dapat kuberikan untuk kalian berdua?
3. Bpk. Ir. Adi Suryo and Ibu Siti Chozinaturrahmah, my beloved parents, my brother and sisters, my nieces, and my grandfather who always supported me during my university years and never said no for anything I asked relating to success of my study. No one is better than you in this world!
4. My 'another' family in Istana Ceria, Mbak Tri for your care and tendernes, Bundo Sri for your warm hug and pray, Teh Ina and Teh Nia for 'untold attention" and my heroine Eneng "geulis" Nurhidayah whose joke always empowered me when I fell into depression during completing my research.
5. My beloved partners in SMPIT As Syifa, Bunda Thika (my lof :D), Bunda Yulia, Pak Nandang and Pak Rizal (pokoknya language teachers team). Juga for administration staff, Pak Dede, Pak Romi, dkk. Those are who gave me more tolerance to leave school in order to complete my thesis as soon as possible. Dan ke 80 guru dan TU yang sudah mendukung dengan doa dan menjaga spirit saya. Makasih, makasih...
6. My nice students. Forgive me for the time that I left. I am strong when I am surrounded by you all. Your bright face and smile is the reflection of our bright future: our islam, our education and our country. Keep your spirit!
7. Untuk sahabat seperjuangan, Na and Fina. I can't imagine how could I finish this study if you two were absent in my life. Thanks for sharing laugh and tears. Na, finally we're done with our S. Pd!! :D. Untuk Fina, what can I do for you? I really hope to be a part of ur successful study.
